Gudrun Fischer

As the principal designer, Gudrun Fischer has had 20 years of experience in Europe where she has designed and managed the development of residential and commercial properties, as well as 20 years of experience in New Zealand where she has adapted her design skills to work with the Kiwi way of life, which includes extensive outdoor living, swimming pools, spa pools and BBQ areas.

Gudrun has always had a strong passion for design work and landscaping, hence choosing landscape architecture as a profession represented the perfect synthesis of both fields.

With guidance from Rod Barnett, with whom Gudrun worked for her first two years in New Zealand, she expanded her knowledge to include the unique constellation of native vegetation of New Zealand, the subtropical climate of Auckland and the wide variety of soil conditions, which can range from sand to clay. Her design skills are in perfect harmony with New Zealand’s climate, plants, and architecture and council regulations.

Gudrun believes in working in accordance with each individual client’s needs.

Her goal is to work harmoniously with existing architecture to create an atmosphere that unifies existing buildings and the extended scenery.

She perceives outdoor areas to be an extension of the interior living space; a transition between the interior and the wider landscape and she therefore believes in the importance of incorporating the surrounding landscape into the garden design.

Consequently, she does not have a ‘one size fits all’ design approach. Instead, she aims to create a well-balanced flow from indoor to outdoor areas, which is influenced by both architecture and environment and adapted to the particular requirements of individual clients.
